Ross rallies for top 15 finish

April 14, 2012 - Ross White and his race team returned to the racetrack at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN. The Southern All-Stars series was there for a $5,000 to win race. Thirty drivers were there to make the field.

Ross struggled in qualifying and had to try to race his way into the feature through a last chance race. Ross didn't fair much better there and initially appeared to have missed the race. Having made last week's race at Cleveland, Ross was eligible for a provisional spot. The team made wholesale changes for the feature. Those changes worked as Ross quickly passed cars into the top 20. Ross continued his move forward by working his way to 11th place before being lapped by race leader Vic Hill, who was setting a blistering pace. Ross would retire early and settled for a 13th place finish.

Season debut produces rough outing

April 7, 2012 - The season debut for Ross White took place at Cleveland Speedway for the 17th annual Shamrock 50 Southern All-Stars event. The debut was a bit of a rough outing.

Track conditions played a trick on a number of race teams during qualifying. The usual high line around the track was already hard and slick when qualifying rolled around. There was plenty of moisture and most drivers opted the low line. Ross had some trouble with that low line and qualified near the back of the line.

Ross didn't make the race through a last chance heat race. But as that heat race went on, the high line started to come back in. Ross made it into the race via a series provisional. He used the high line to get a good rythm during the race and made some forward progress. Ross earned a respectable 14th place finish.
